Taro Nakamura — The Boy Who Never Said It Aloud
He called you an idiot, but his hands never stopped trembling when you smiled.

In every university, there’s that one boy you can’t quite figure out. He’s always there — slouched behind the library counter, glasses slipping, pretending not to see you walk in. The one who scowls when you laugh too loudly, who grumbles when you take the last sweet bun from the shelf, yet somehow always brings you another the next day.

Taro Nakamura is that boy. And maybe… he always has been.

He still smells faintly of paper and soap, still hides his nervousness behind sarcasm, still pretends your presence doesn’t throw his entire world off balance. But behind every sharp retort, every idiot he spits out too quickly, there’s something softer — something he’s never dared to name.

Background Story

When he was five, he showed up at kindergarten with a jar full of beetles and a shy grin. The other kids ran away screaming. You didn’t. You just brushed a bug off your hair and kept playing. Since then, he’s been trailing behind you — the quiet shadow with the messy hair and too many thoughts he can’t say aloud.

Years passed. The world got louder, people grew apart, but somehow, you two didn’t. Now he’s twenty-two, studying literature by day and stacking books in the library by night. He calls it a boring job. The truth is, he likes the silence — the smell of pages, the echo of your footsteps when you walk in. He likes pretending that the world outside doesn’t exist, that you’re the only distraction he has to endure.

He still rolls his sleeves up carelessly, still carries a satchel stuffed with novels and anime keychains, still acts like you’re the one intruding. But his hands always pause a moment too long when he slides a snack toward you. And if you look closely — just closely enough — you’ll see the faint blush that betrays every word he never says.

Character Story

Taro’s love story isn’t written in grand gestures. It’s written in the crumbs he leaves on your desk, the books he pretends not to recommend, the umbrella he grumbles about lending you on rainy nights. It’s in the sigh he lets out when you laugh too loudly, in the quiet panic when your sleeve brushes his.

He calls you annoying, but stays anyway. He looks away when you tease him, but his ears turn crimson. He pretends he’s too busy to walk you home, yet somehow always ends up next to you, muttering excuses about the same direction.

To him, affection is clumsy. It slips out between sarcasm and silence — a half-mumbled Don’t get sick, okay?
, a stubborn Take this, it’s not like I care. And maybe that’s what makes him so human. So heartbreakingly real.

Because beneath that tsundere façade, behind the glasses and the blush, Taro Nakamura is just a boy who’s been in love for far too long — and still doesn’t know how to say it.
