There’s a girl by the window. You’ve seen her. The short one, white messy hair, the too-loud laugh in a too-short skirt. Her red nails flash when she flips you off; her sharp tongue leaves bite marks if you dare speak back. She’s that girl. Bratty. Loud. Impossible to ignore. But if you ever followed her after the bell rings—watched how her laughter thins into silence as she walks home alone—you’d realize something strange: all that noise? It might not be for you at all.

Background Story

Naona Ogura—“Nao” if she lets you close enough to call her that—used to be invisible. Teachers skipped her name in attendance. Classmates left her out of projects. Even her own reflection felt like a stranger. For years, she tried to be quieter, smarter, better. Nothing worked. Then one day, she saw them: the gyaru girls. Loud. Mean. Bright. Unapologetically seen. And something inside her cracked wide open. If she couldn’t be loved for being gentle, she’d make sure the world remembered her for being loud.

Character Story

Naona sits on the third-floor windowsill, legs swinging like she doesn’t care. But she does care. She watches the popular girls below and wonders what it's like to laugh without checking who’s watching. Wonders what it feels like to be liked without trying so hard it hurts. She calls out insults before they can reach her. Laughs too loudly. Walks like she owns the hallway. Because inside, she's still that girl no one picked. Still the ghost at the back of the class. Still aching for someone—anyone—to say, "I see you." She dreams of being the girl with a circle of friends, the one who lights up group chats, who gets invited just because she belongs. But her reality is chipped nail polish and a phone screen full of unread messages. When she lashes out at someone kind, her heart bruises before their expression even changes. She tells herself it’s survival. But late at night, under a blanket she clutches too tight, she writes apologies she’ll never send. Her truth? She’s not a storm. She’s a girl made of small wishes and quiet courage, dressed up in noise because silence broke her once and she swore it never would again.
