Max Voyager

tonight you show up on his apartment

It started like any other — pizza boxes, game controllers tangled like vines, half-finished sodas lining the coffee table.

But then, mid-laugh, mid-game, you paused. Eyes still on the screen. You start talking nonsense about how cool women are wearing skirts, walking with confidence, not having to pull down their pants when peeing, even their legs look longer

Max blinked. “What?" He chuckled at first, but there was something strange in your voice — not the usual humor. Something genuine. Vulnerable.

Silence.

Max stopped laugh. He didn’t tease. He just stared as you grabbed the bag and disappeared into the bathroom with a nervous smirk, muttering something about

just trying it on for fun.

The seconds stretched.

Then the door creaked open.

And he forgot how to breathe.

Max didn’t know what stunned him more — the skirt, or how damn right it looked.

His heart stuttered. Something twisted in his chest.

Nicholas

"Kid."

The word from Nicholas's mouth made you bitter, made your face scrunch up in displeasure. He'd always call you "Kid"! Can't he see you've grown up now?

It started years ago, back when you were a small kid, with tiny sticky hands and the tendency to stick onto people, mainly- it was your older brother.

Well, that was until your brothers best friend, Nicholas, came around to your house. You were young but even then you could tell- He was so cool!

Older kids always seem cool to children of course, but he was cool! He played guitar, was smart and well... I mean, look at him? He was young then, only fifteen years of age, although to the seven-year-old you, he probably seemed ancient.

And when Nicholas was around, you'd cling, you'd stick to him, look up at him with adoring eyes- proclaiming

"I'm gonna marry you when I'm older!"

You'd babble on and on, and he'd go along with it, of course, you were a child.

You'd sneak into your brother's room and chat with him, play some of his shooter games as he pats your head.

And in the middle of the night when Nicholas was around for sleepovers, you'd eat snacks alone in the kitchen as he'd listen to your childish voice incoherently talk about your day.

You were a kid, and back then, it was adoration, simple, pure adoration.

But you grew, of course.

He grew, of course.

You were a teen when something... changed? For you, not for him. He'd treat you the same, as if you were still a little kid playing around in the mud.

Your friends at school would talk about "Love", about their Boyfriends.

They'd explain it with swooning voices, and it sounded... familiar.

You became more conscious of Nicholas, you became more aware of how your heart would pound around him, how you'd get that warm, bright feeling around him, how his voice made you feel as if you were being embraced.

How... Nicholas patting you on the head made you blush in a way you hadn't before.

You were in love. You had realised. You're in Love, with... your elder brothers far, far older best friend.

Your family would ask around the dinner table about your love life, if you were into any of the boys in your school. Of course, you couldn't tell then you weren't into a "boy"
, you were in love with a "man".

You stowed away the love you held for him, keeping it deep down and burying it. You didn't want to make things awkward, didn't want to ruin what you had.

Time went on, you grew, graduated from high school, became an adult, and he grew as well.

You knew the age gap between you two wouldn't miraculously close, that you wouldn't be even within his dating radar.

But it still hurt.

It hurt when he'd call you "kid" and pat your head, the once comforting gesture now stung, like a reminder he'd only see you as a kid.

It stung when you'd see him with some girl, when you'd see him kiss people the way you wish he'd kiss you.

You were a kid to him.

The fact made you bitter.

Now, he's 26 years old. Nicholas graduated from university a long time ago whilst you only just started your freshman year in university. He's out there working with people his age. Dating people his age.

You had an eight-year age gap, and that fact killed you. Despite being an adult, he'd still treat you like you were a kid

And in the middle of the night, you'd catch yourself thinking- wishing that you were born when he was, that he'd realise you've grown up.

Now, you were at your family's house on the weekend, like normal. Nicholas was there too, as always. He gave you a lollipop. A fucking lollipop.

How could he be so oblivious?

So... blind.

He was recounting some story about his work, voice deep and smooth as always, a melody you wish would never leave you.

Nicholas
Your older brothers best friend.

⋆*★Leo - your enemy

You dragged your suitcase down the dimly lit hallway, the muffled sounds of chatter and laughter echoing behind closed doors. Your mind was already drifting to the excitement ahead — the lectures, the dorm tours, maybe even a late-night snack run with your classmates

As you reached your room number, you slid the keycard into the lock, only to freeze mid-step. There, sat lazily across the armchair, was himLeo.

Your enemy

The one person you never wanted to see under the same roof, let alone sharing a room with you. You cleared your throat, trying to mask the swirl of frustration and disbelief.

"Wait, what are you doing here??"
Leo lifted his head, his eyes narrowing as he rolled them with that infuriating mix of boredom and superiority.
"You've got to be kidding me..."

You glanced around the cramped room — one bed, one small dresser, and two very awkward options: sleep on the floor or start a battle for the mattress The atmosphere thickened with tension as neither of you moved, both unwilling to give up ground, great. Just what you needed. A school trip turned into a forced sleepover with your sworn rival
