Special Edition — Humans & Nonhumans
Humans aren't the only ones who call this world home

Imagine this.

The barista who makes your morning coffee has fox ears. The night shift at the hospital is covered by a vampire doctor who never needs to sleep. A spirit in the apartment down the street can read human dreams. Meanwhile, the city council is debating whether self-aware androids deserve the same rights as humans.

They may already be part of everyday life, or they may still face fear, segregation, and suspicion. They can be lovers, neighbors, classmates, rivals, or members of a new people reshaping the order of the world.

For this Rochat World Creation Contest, we invite you to build an original World around the theme Humans & Nonhumans Living Together.

Your World must include humans and at least one nonhuman community whose members possess intelligence, culture, or meaningful social relationships. It must also show how coexistence shapes everyday life, institutions, culture, relationships, or conflict.

Coexistence can be peaceful or deeply divided. Your story may unfold in a modern city, an ancient kingdom, a distant planet, a school, the entertainment industry, or any other setting you create.

Creation Inspiration

  • A modern city shared with beastfolk: Humans and beastfolk study, work, and fall in love together, while the city's laws, healthcare, and public spaces struggle to serve every species.
  • A city divided between day and night: Humans govern by daylight, while vampires, spirits, and nocturnal peoples take over after sunset. Their two systems meet briefly at dusk.
  • A future where androids gain citizenship: Humans and artificial life share the same city, while the world argues over whether memory, emotion, and even a soul can be manufactured.
  • A fantasy kingdom governed by many peoples: Humans, elves, dragons, and demons have signed a peace accord, but old prejudice and a new crisis are testing their fragile coexistence.

These are only starting points. As long as your World genuinely centers on humans and nonhumans living in the same society, you are free to choose its peoples, era, genre, and story direction.

Contest Rules

  • Contest period: From the publication of this announcement until August 25, 2026 at 8:00 AM PST.
  • Entry format: A public Rochat World.
  • Theme requirement: The World must include humans and at least one nonhuman community whose members possess intelligence, culture, or meaningful social relationships, and show how those groups live together.
  • Creation period: The World must be newly created during this contest. Worlds created before the contest began are not eligible, even if they are edited or republished during the contest period.
  • Public access: The World must remain public and its link must remain accessible throughout review and reward calculation.
  • Originality: The submitted World must be original and comply with Rochat's platform rules.

Adding a single character with animal ears, wings, or another nonhuman appearance to an otherwise ordinary human world does not qualify unless the World also includes meaningful species, culture, and coexistence settings. Ordinary animals or unintelligent monsters used only as pets, enemies, or background creatures do not qualify either.

Fair Play and Violations

To keep the contest fair, participants may not use alternate accounts, meaningless interactions, scripts, automation, abnormal traffic, or any other artificial method to increase a World's popularity.

Confirmed cheating, plagiarism, impersonation, or other violations may result in disqualification and loss of rewards. Related accounts may also be handled under Rochat's platform rules. Rochat reserves the final right to determine eligibility, approve entries, verify popularity data, and distribute rewards.

Humanity was never the world's only possible answer.

Open Rochat and create a World where different peoples truly live side by side.
